Family bulb planting this Saturday

Members of the public are invited to come along and help plant some of the 8,000 Crocus Bulbs that Kilcullen Community Action have recently purchased as part of their Biodiversity Action Plan, writes Noel Clare.

The bulbs will be planted in the wild flower area at the back of Scoil Bhride beside the GAA training pitch. The site can be accessed from the Community Centre Grounds — just up from where the outdoor Gym Equipment is located. Planting will start at 11 am and will continue until 1pm or until all bulbs are planted.

Just bring along your own spade or a trowel and you will be given some bulbs to plant and instructions on planting. Those who help with the planting will also be given a bag of bulbs to take home to their own garden. Some bulbs will also be distributed to interested housing estates.

The bulbs are all spring flowering and are pollinator friendly — providing much needed pollen at a time of the year when it is in short supply.
