Candles for sale today, tomorrow, for Pieta fundraiser
Candles will be on sale today and tomorrow from 10am outside Nolans, the River Cafe and the Centra store on Hillcrest, for the annual Pieta House fundraiser, writes Brian Byrne.
As the annual Dawn Walk will not take place again this year due to the Covid situation, the organising committee led by Lorna Brophy and Richie Kelly are again raising funds for Pieta by selling the candles, which will be placed on Kilcullen's bridge for the weekend beginning Friday 2 July.
Candles are €5 each, and whatever name the buyer wants will be written on it. Sponsorship cards are also available by Direct message to Lorna Brophy or phone 087 2741701.
Since 2006 the Pieta services have seen and helped over 48,000 people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm, and and now has 20 centres across Ireland.
