Did you catch The Daily Cast podcasts during the week?

We covered quite a lot of ground during the week on The Daily Cast podcasts on Kilcullen Diary, writes Brian Byrne.

Our Features of the Day included Nichola Kennedy giving some timely tips on summer eye care, Stuart Conroy talking about Halverstown Cricket Club as it gets ready for the season in its 136th year, Phionagh Gibson on the filming of the CPC Transition Year musical Little Shop of Horrors, and, from the archives, the late Msgr James Horan talking 40 years ago about apparitions and miracles at Knock Shrine and the building of the Basilica there.

The Persons of Interest this week were guitarist Bert Weedon who influenced very many of the biggest rock musicians since the 1950s, Sean Lemass who is accepted as the 'father of modern Ireland', Florence Nightingale who established nursing as a trained profession, Arthur Sullivan of the Gilbert and Sullivan duo who invented comic opera, and Richard Cantillon who left his native Kerry to become a Parisian banker who made his fortune in questionable speculation and also defined the concept of entrepreneur.

The Daily Cast drops at around 9am each weekday morning on the Kilcullen Diary, and includes weather for the day along with a look at the local and national news headlines.
