Weatherday: Surrender
Starting off mostly dry this morning. A mix of cloud and sunshine. Some heavy and slow-moving showers from lunchtime could include some hail.
Sun between the showers and a bright evening. Highest temperatures up to 11deg in variable light breezes.
On this day in 1916, Padraic Pearse ordered the surrender of the Easter Rising rebels after the shelling of Dublin city centre. Of some 485 who died directly in the rising, more than half were civilians.
