Weatherday: Guernica
Another good day in store, sunny spells throughout. Hazy later and some thicker cloud in the late afternoon will clear again to good sun for the evening.
High of 14deg in light northwesterly breeze.
On this day in 1937, German and Italian aircraft bombed the Basque city of Guernica at the behest of Franco's Nationalist rebels. Up to 1,600 civilians were killed, and the event inspired Pablo Picasso's most well-known painting, Guernica.
