Thomas McGrath ready for his cycle on Sunday

A reminder that Thomas McGrath of Kilgowan is undertaking a 5K tandem cycle with his dad on Sunday next, to raise funds for Saplings School for children with autism in Carlow.

Thomas's family wish to thank everyone who has donated via Facebook and sponsorship card.

The video above is Thomas getting ready. He is cycling from his home to Kilgowan cross and down to Walls of Kilgowan and back home to clock up his 5km. A 5km cycle may not seem much to the average cyclist, but this is being done on a tandem bike, because of Thomas's additional needs.

Thomas needs lots of encouragement to stay on the bike, so if anyone is in the area next Sunday at 12pm, please shout out to him or beep the car horn if passing.

He has got the very kind support of some local employees from Nolan's Butchers, who will cycle along with him. The school is trying to raise €20,000 so that each pupil can avail of speech and language therapy.

There is a sponsorship card in Nolan's Butchers for the week if anyone is in a position to donate any amount or you can donate through this Facebook page link.
