Kilcullen figures in a number of motions and questions on the agenda of the next meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, writes Brian Byrne.
These include one from Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy that safe cycle routes from Kilcullen estates be established to Scoil Bhride and the Community centre and GAA complexes, and similar between Athgarvan and Newbridge and Caragh and Naas, as part of planning by the National Transport Authority. The same councillor is looking for updates on the Pinkeen Stream crossing and various elements of the Part 8 procedure proposed for Market Square.
Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer is asking that the Council's Heritage Section confirm when the geophysical survey will be carried out for the Old Kilcullen Area, as part of the development of heritage trails and points of interest there.
In more general terms, Cllr O'Dwyer is seeking dialogue between the Council and residents associations on biodiversity, and also that the authority supports food businesses in the MD who want to take advantage of Government funding to promote outdoor dining.
The Kildare-Newbridge MD meeting is on 21 April, online.
