Garda warning on 'DSP' phone scam
A Garda warning has been issued about a phone 'phishing' scam purporting to be from the Department of Social Protection, writes Brian Byrne.
It's the latest in a range of such attempted frauds, and is an 083 prefix call leaving a message claiming to be from the DSP, requesting a call back, or direct contact by way of numbered options in the message.
Gardai say do not respond to this type of call. Make contact with the relevant Government department directly yourself using the official numbers. If you have any suspicions about calls you receive please contact your local Garda Station for advice.
