Attention called to risky Kilcullen footpaths

An assessment of accessibility and trip hazards on all paths on Kilcullen's Main Street is being requested by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, writes Brian Byrne.

The issue is on the agenda for discussion by way of motion for next week's meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD.

"I saw an elderly lady being helped out of her car at the doctor's surgery one day and I just thought that particular side of the town is very uneven," she told the Diary. "As both surgeries and the chemist are on probably the most uneven side of the street it really needs to be addressed."

The paths are clearly pretty broken in places, as the Diary's pictures show, and the councillor also believes the Main Street could be more wheelchair accessible.
