Launch of Stories from the Waterside website

To mark World Wetlands Day 2021 on 2 February, there will be an online evening dedicated the Stories from the Waterside competition held last May during the first Covid lockdown, writes Brian Byrne.

The event, from 7pm-8.30pm, will be hosted on Zoom by the Local Authorities Waters Programme.

It will include readings by some of the authors from the competition and will be presented by Jim Finn of Tipp FM.

A website archiving the stories submitted for the competition will also be launched, which will also be used for future stories. Almost 500 stories were received from across the island of Ireland and from Irish people living abroad. Registration is free here. 

Stories from the Waterside was a collaboration between LAWPRO (Local Authority Waters Programme), The Heritage Council and the Heritage Officer Programme, Waterways Ireland, and Inland Fisheries Ireland.
