Christmas queues at Nolans, but different
We're used to seeing the queues at Nolans Butchers on the final days before Christmas as people come to collect their orders, writes Brian Byrne.
But they're usually out the front door and down the street, adding to the Christmas buzz in town. This year, for the obvious reason, the shop has set up a queuing system from the back, and from early this morning it was stretching right into their car park on the Milemill Road.
It's all moving smoothly, a little like it was going into Santa's Grotto as a child, and the weather seems to have called off the rain somewhat. The banter and the music aren't here, though. A muted sign of these difficult times.
Next year, hopefully back to normal.
