Ballymore singer's haunting version of the Fairytale
A hauntingly beautiful version of Fairytale of New York by a local singer will have the shivers running up and down your back, writes Brian Byrne.
Performed by Megan O'Neill from Ballymore, a former student of Cross and Passion College, this presentation of the original made famous by the late Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues is understated and reflective, a complete change from the sometimes harshness of the original.
There's a place for both versions in any normal Christmas, but this one might well suit particularly the 2020 festival time, where peace and tranquility might be more the sought theme than wild celebration.
