Engineer will meet on Old Hacklow Road, 'but no money for work'

The Kildare Newbridge Municipal District Engineer is to meet with Old Kilcullen's community association to consider a request that the Old Hacklow Road be restored to make it suitable for pedestrian use, writes Brian Byrne.
The road has been closed for many years, and reopening it would be part of the development of the Old Kilcullen Heritage Trail project by the Old Kilcullen Area Community Association.
The matter was raised by way of motion at today's meeting of the Kildare Newbridge MD by Cllr Rob Power. A report by officials confirmed that the Engineer will meet with the Community Association, but that unless substantial funding is made available, the Municipal District Office will not be able to carry out works at this location.
