Seven days see 84pc infection rate increase in Newbridge LEA


The latest 14-day incidence of Covid-19 in the Newbridge Local Electoral Area has risen to 222.6 per 100,000 population, writes Brian Byrne. This is significantly ahead of the national infection rate of 177.2. Over the 14 days there have been 79 new cases confirmed.

Kilcullen is part of the Newbridge LEA. The rates in neighbouring LEAs are Naas 184, Athy 128, Baltinglass 103 and Kildare 70.

For the Newbridge LEA they compare with 112.7 per 100,000 people at 5 October 2020, against the national rate of 116.4. A week before, the numbers were 8 cases and an infection rate of 22/100k.

The figures are from Ireland's Covid-19 Data Hub, to the 14-day period ending 12 October.
