Mattress disposal day a big success

Almost 1,000 mattresses were brought to the Silliot Hill recycling facility last Wednesday, in a special free day for mattress disposal, writes Brian Byrne.

The 'mattress amnesty' was offered by Kildare County Council, and is particularly welcome in advance of Halloween. It means that these mattresses at least won't end up being burned illegally on bonfires.

Just shows that these kind of initiatives are well worth the effort.
