Hedgehog boxes distributed in Kilcullen

A number of hedgehog boxes have been distributed around town today by members of the Biodiversity Plan for Kilcullen 2020+ group, writes Brian Byrne.

The plan has been developed by consultants in association with Kilcullen Community Action, as Kilcullen is one of ten communities in the county being supported in biodiversity development by Kildare County Council. The boxes were made by the Naas Mens Shed, who also made bird-boxes which were distributed in Kilcullen earlier this year.

"We had lots of offers of locations to place the hedgehog boxes," says Paul Leighton of the Kilcullen Biodiversity Group. "We're definitely planning more for next year. These are the first small steps in helping our important small friends in the town."
