Hazel's latest book a US best-seller

Local author Hazel Gaynor got some really good news this morning when the US version of The Bird in the Bamboo Cage entered the US national best-seller list, writes Brian Byrne. 

Published there under the title When We Were Young and Brave, the book is listed at No 14 in the national list, as reported in The Washington Post.

"This is my first national bestseller in the USA and I am so excited and so grateful to everyone who has bought, read, and championed the book in its first two weeks since publication," she wrote on an Instagram post this afternoon. "It is especially exciting for this to happen in the same week it was announced that the Irish version of the book, The Bird In The Bamboo Cage, is shortlisted for an Irish Book Award. What a lovely end to a week that started with additional lockdown restrictions."

Previous books by Hazel have been in best-seller lists in The New York Times and USA Today.
