Biodiversity Group to discuss Draft Plan in Zoom event

A Draft Biodiversity Action Plan will be discussed during a Zoom meeting this evening of the Kilcullen Biodiversity Group, hosted by the consultants helping develop the Plan, writes Brian Byrne.

The event is the second of two tutorial sessions under the Kildare Community Biodiversity Project, in which Kilcullen is one of ten participant communities in the county. This evening's meeting should have been a physical walk around the relevant Kilcullen areas with Green Pine Consultants, but like so many other events since the arrival of Covid-19, it had to be pushed online.

Photographs and Google map screenshots of different spaces and features within Kilcullen will be used to identify opportunities and actions for the Plan.

A number of the Objectives and related Targets in the Draft Plan are already being actioned by Kilcullen Tidy Towns and local estates, but the final document will establish full timelines and detailed activities to be undertaken.

The main Objectives are to Make the Town Biodiversity-friendly, Raise Awareness of local Biodiversity and how to protect it, Collect Evidence to track change and measure success, and to Build Capacity and Resources to manage habitat. The Zoom meeting is taking place at 6.30pm.
