Roy on his rothar for Laura Lynn

Supporters of Roy Thompson's Cycle Challenge for LauraLynn have donated almost three times the target he had set when he started out at the beginning of the month.

After not cycling for some considerable time, Roy will today exceed the 250kms cycling he had promised in the Challenge, 10 days before the end of the effort.

"People's generosity is amazing," he posted on his Facebook page. "I really appreciate the support, and LauraLynn will make fantastic use of the monies raised, providing hospice care for sick children."

Having got his 'cycling legs' back, Roy plans to stay on the rothar for the rest of the month and beyond, and anyone who wants to contribute before the end of August is very welcome to do so. At the time of writing, €590 has been donated, for a target originally €200 and later upped to €300.
