Looking Back: Kilcullen Boxing Club's 'Golden Era'
The photograph reproduced above from Thirty Years of The Bridge recalls what Pat Lynch described as 'The Golden Era' of Kilcullen Boxing Club, writes Brian Byrne.
The photograph, taken in a garden that is now part of the Hideout car park, shows the club members for 1953-54 in which there are faces that will still be familiar to the older Kilcullen residents of today.
The photo is along with an article by Pat Lynch which details the Boxing Club history from its foundation in 1942 until 2000, when the compilation of Kilcullen memories was published as a Millennium heritage project.
Thirty Years of The Bridge is still available in Kilcullen.
