Kilcullen Relay For Life

A number of events took place over the last couple of days to support the Kilcullen Team Relay for Life, which over this weekend is a virtual affair, writes Brian Byrne.

Across Kildare, other teams also held their own Candle of Hope ceremonies in small groups and individuals, with photos and videos posted for viewing on the Kildare Relay for Life Facebook page. This included a video of ceremonies at Naas Racecourse with a small group at the normally crowded venue for the event.

Ger Dooley's Kildare Bathroom Company held their usual coffee morning, which many people attended virtually, making donations while having coffee at home. Local businesses in The Link Park also contributed.

On Friday night, Old Kilcullen Residents held a candle-bag lighting ceremony on The Green, limited to 15 attendees, socially distanced.

Last night, Teresa Meaney organised a similar event in Conroy Park, with local residents gathering at their gates to light candles for the movement, which raises funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

We are sure there were other contributions, but these are the ones we know of.
