KCA 'will not approach local businesses' for funding this year

At the recent KCA meeting, chair Anne Cashman said there are expenses to be met, but other ways of funding them will have to be found. "We don't have any answers yet," she said. "We have to think about sponsorship, some ways of getting corporate support, perhaps. There are also a number of different grant structures to look at."
Antoinette Buckley noted that people had been 'very generous' in their support of the GoFundMe initiative. Celia Travers suggested that it might be time to put the KCA collection boxes back into the shops, from which they had been removed at the beginning of the pandemic, amid the installation of screen protectors. "I notice that other collection boxes have reappeared, so it may be the right time to do it."
Ann Cashman also suggested that it might be time to carry out another town 'walkabout' by members, to update the group's work programme for the rest of the year. Noel Clare agreed, and suggested that this would also be the right time to look at locations for the Christmas lights. "We should look early to see where we might put new lights," he said, adding that this year at least seven of the profiles will have to be replaced.
