Details of CPC reopening communicated
There has been a slight change to the previous provisional schedule of re-opening of Cross and Passion College, writes Brian Byrne.
In a letter to parents, Principal Joe Leonard notes that all staff will be in the school on Monday 31 August, but no students. First Years only will start on Tuesday 1 September, from 9am-12.15pm.
On Wednesday 2 September, Third and Sixth Year students will attend from 9am-1.15pm, while the Second, Fourth and Fifth Year students will return on Thursday 3 September for the same times. All years will attend for full classes on Friday 4 September.
Mr Leonard says the role of parents and students in reopening 'is key'. "Without the cooperation of both, the plan will not work," he says. "I will be in touch throughout the week ahead to emphasise key points and to provide further details ahead of reopening."
Attached to the letter are the CPC Covid-19 Response Plan and a Q&A document designed to answer main queries which may be out there.
The 44-page Plan reviews what the school has been doing in physical layout changes and training to prepare CPC for the reopening. It provides Return to Work procedures and requirements from those who are employed in the school, and also details the at risk groups who may not be able to return at this time. Access to school procedures and control measures are also detailed.
Among other details, the Q&A document says that all students who are not in the High Risk Category will be required to attend school. There will be a full Timetable, Monday to Friday.
Full uniforms must be worn, and all students will be required to wear masks, including those aged under 13. Students without masks will be removed from classes. All staff will be required wear masks.
No canteen facilities will be available. No lockers will be available, and students will be encouraged to have two bags, one to leave at their desk and the other to bring home items for homework. It's not yet clear if evening study in the school will be available, because of the requirements for cleaning the premises.
No students will be allowed to leave the school grounds during morning break, but all except First Years will be allowed to leave the grounds during lunch break.
