Last link completed for new town signs

Signs for replacement.
Kildare County Council has agreed to install the new signs proposed for Kilcullen, which are being primarily funded by the Kildare Leadership Partnership, writes Brian Byrne.

Last week's Kilcullen Community Action meeting heard that this is effectively the last part of the process to make the application to Leader, expected to be possible this week.

There will be name signs on all the approach roads, a tourist information sign at the Town Hall, and a number of biodiversity signs for the Valley and Pinkeen Stream.

At an earlier meeting, Noel Clare had described the paperwork involved as 'daunting', but 'for all the right reasons'.

He expressed his thanks to Council officials for arranging the installation of the signs. The project cost is €17,000, and a €1,300 grant has also been provided by the Kildare County Council Heritage office. Leader has agreed to provide 75pc of the cost.
