'Definite' parking options for Market Square being pursued
Kildare County Council are 'pursuing a number of definite options' in relation to car parking in terms of the proposed Market Square development, writes Brian Byrne.
Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer has told Kilcullen Community Action that Director of Services Joe Boland so confirmed to her at a meeting yesterday.
The project is to be discussed under a motion from Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy at Wednesday's July meeting of the Kildare Newbridge Municipal District, asking for an update on the plans and parking proposals.
Mr Boland also said that the Part 8 process on the Market Square proposal will now commence at the end of August. That process will commence with a public consultation on the plans which have so far been developed. Previously anticipated to begin in the first part of this year, the process was shelved during the Covid-19 crisis.
The redevelopment project was awarded an initial €200,000 from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2018 towards the then estimated €500,000 cost, for which the suggested outlay is now €1.4m.
