Weatherday: Witch-hunts

Another damp and cloudy start. Early showers will disappear for the morning, but more arriving in the afternoon.

Sunny spells at tea time will include more heavy showers, some thundery, maybe with hail. Temperatures 13deg in gentle to moderate breeze.

On this day in 1692, Bridget Bishop was hanged for witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts, USA. She was the first to be convicted in notorious trials which led to 25 executions and deaths in jail. Almost two decades later, the convictions of 22 people were overturned and their families compensated.
