Hold on for your pints ...

Non-social distancing times, in Mac's in 2013.
While pubs selling food are able to reopen from next Monday, other pubs have to wait until 20 July to open their doors, writes Brian Byrne.

Mary Masterson says McTernans will be opening on that date, 'all going well'. "Looking forward to seeing how it works with the restaurants," she told the Diary.

Tommy Dignam is also looking forward to getting back to business in The Spout on the 20th. "Hopefully things will be a bit easier then," he says. "We have done a bit of a revamp with the pub."

The Hideout plans to reopen on a 'phased basis', but there are no details yet. Alan O'Connell is also hoping to be in a position to open on the 20th.

Meanwhile, Bardons is opening on Thursday 2 July for food (updated with new date information), on a bookings basis. Fallons is taking bookings for a similar operation from Tuesday next.

The Brown Bear, meantime, is looking at 9 July to reopen its restaurant on a one-sitting basis, probably in tandem with the Take Away business they have developed during the shutdown to widespread appreciation.

For this weekend, the usual take away food options in the area can be accessed on the links here — Fallons Gourmet GarageArmelle's KitchenKalbarri Cookery SchoolBardonsCrean's Place, and the Brown Bear.
