CPC Sixth Years graduation by video

It has been a difficult few months for our Sixth Years and Graduation Day is so special to them, I was determined that the day would be marked for them in some way, writes Sabrina Mills, Sixth Year Head at Cross and Passion College.

I decided to put together a video for them with as many of the parts of the Graduation ceremony as possible. I put together photographs of each student when they were in First Year as it is lovely to see them all when they started their journey with us. I added music from one of our very talented Sixth Year students, Tia Boyd Burke. Teachers sent messages with lovely wishes for the future. Ms Moynihan and Mr Leonard shared a video message as did Ms Harney, deputy principal. We included prayers for family, friendship, teachers and of course our students.

Students themselves created a video to include lovely memories from their time in CPC, accompanied by music performed by two talented 6th Year students Finnlay Mallardo and Kaytlyn Walsh. We then included individual photographs of each Sixth Year student to mark their graduation. The video was shared on Thursday 21st May, the day that should have been their Graduation ceremony, and families gathered together at home or with friends online or using social distance to watch and celebrate.

Many students and their families sent me lovely messages and photographs after they watched, of them celebrating their special day. Some even put on their school uniform! I wished more than anything that we could have been in Kilcullen church together to celebrate, but it was not to be. The Graduation video was a way to mark their day and let them know we were thinking of them, proud of them and wished them all the best in the future.

This is a link to the video.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Thursday 21st May marked a very special day on the CPC calendar — the occasion of the graduation of the class of 2020. We all dearly wish that we could have gathered in Kilcullen church as normal to celebrate together, but alas that was not to be. I hope that the students marked the occasion with a celebration with their family. It is an important milestone in our students' lives and I want to congratulate them all on the achievement. As a group they contributed so much to CPC over the years. A special thank you to all of their parents and guardians for their support of the school throughout. I am sure that they are very proud of their son or daughter.
My sincere thanks to their Year Head, Ms Mills, for her enormous work in putting together a graduation celebration for the students. Ms Mills was absolutely determined that there would be a graduation ceremony and she deserves great credit for gathering contributions from students and staff to produce a wonderful memory piece. Thank you to everyone who submitted photographs, messages, videos and music.
Joe Leonard, Principal.
