Cocooning meals provision ends

A regular provision of meals to older and vulnerable people in Kilcullen who have been cocooning has now ended, but volunteers are still available to collect and deliver takeaway meals from local food outlets for anyone who has difficulty in getting out, writes Brian Byrne.

The meals were provided through a Kilcullen Community Action initiative with the assistance of Kilcullen gardai, thanks to the generosity of local restaurants Fallons, Bardons and Crean's Place. Meals were also provided by Poulaphuca House and some of the volunteers themselves.

"We are very grateful to the proprietors and staff of these businesses for all the support," says Noel Clare of KCA. "Obviously it is not possible to keep the deliveries going indefinitely and we feel that with the easing of restrictions on May 18th it may be a good time to bring it to an end. In the meantime businesses in Kilcullen are offering very good take away meals and our volunteers are available to collect and deliver meals and other goods or medicines, should anyone be unable to get to the shops."

Meals may be ordered from Armelles every day 045 480697, Delivery available locally; Bardons on Thursday through Sunday 045 482286, Orders 1pm-8pm; and Kalbarri Cookery School, Carnalway 087 2932501. Ready Made Meals are also available from Eurospar 045 481214, delivery available locally; Nolans 045 481229; Centra 045 484663 and Daybreak.

Regular takeaways are available from Fountain 045 481625, elivery available locally; Reas 045 480537, delivery available locally; Alkebabish 089 2307388, delivery available locally; Kings Garden 045 481018, delivery available locally; and East Garden 045 484695, delivery available locally.
