A smile doesn't infect with coronavirus ...
In an atmosphere of fear during the coronavirus situation, we can forget that a simple smile doesn't transmit the virus, writes Brian Byrne.
We're supposed to maintain distance and non-contact as we meet on the street or wherever when walking, but don't be afraid to smile at the person you're making the space to walk around safely. Even if you don't know them.
That's why the Keep Kildare Talking initiative from the Kildare Covid-19 Community Response Forum is important. The heavy news conferences and pronouncements from the National Public Health Emergency Team need an antidote just as much as we need a vaccine against Covid-19.
So, just to remind us all, here are the TALKING points.
T – Take the time to chat.
A – Ask your neighbour how they’re doing.
L –Let your neighbours have your contact details.
K – Keep in regular contact by telephone and video call.
I – Initiate conversations with a friendly wave or smile.
N – Never feel alone – Kildare Community Call Helpline is here to help you.
G – Get Talking, it’s good for you and your community.
