Weatherday: 'There was no ash cloud' — O'Leary

Our beech hedge is almost totally green now, the old copper leaves scattered around the garden. It's a crisp fine morning, early frost already disappearing.

Sunny through the day, maybe some very light high hazy cloud. No rain, light southeasterly breeze.

Temperatures up to 15deg, feeling warmer in any sunny corner.

On this day in 2010, the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland began sending ash plumes into the skies, and disrupted air traffic in northern and central Europe for a week.
