Social distancing, some suggestions
A key part of the current effort to slow the spread of coronavirus is social distancing, or more lately known as physical distancing, writes Brian Byrne. Businesses have all being doing their bit to help people, their customers and staff, manage this, as evidenced by the photo above of customers waiting to enter Nolans.
But even in a rural town setting like Kilcullen, this is raising its own difficulties. Two notes below have come in from Diary readers, with suggestions to help.

But even in a rural town setting like Kilcullen, this is raising its own difficulties. Two notes below have come in from Diary readers, with suggestions to help.
It's great that families have plenty of options to get out within 2km of the town. However, there's more people than ever walking around the town and a bit of common sense and courtesy would go a long way while the vast majority of us are trying to help the situation by sticking to the guidelines.
As a family, we've had to cross the road several times while on our walks to maintain social distancing. Maybe a suggestion that an individual walking by themselves or with their dog might make the effort to step onto or cross the road rather than have families with children having to herd the whole gang across the road. Maybe an unwritten rule that the smaller group should give way as it's impossible to maintain a 2-metre gap in most of our footpaths?Another suggestion has come in from another reader, on the same theme:
Some people we've met are in a world of their own not thinking of the situation but others just don't seem to care too much that they've inconvenienced others. But the majority of people appear to be respecting the guidelines.

While you are out walking, a big problem is people passing each other on the footpath.
Well this is very simply solved if everyone walks in the same direction in a one way system in the direction of the traffic. This idea also works in every country,
I suggest that Pedestrians travel in the direction of the traffic using a one way system.
