Weatherday: Remembering Robert Koch

The daffodils are waving a little frantically in a blustery fresh wind. It's likely to be mostly cloudy with a few sunny spells maybe, but will be dry. Highest temperatures forecast to 10deg.

On this day in 1882, Robert Koch announced that he had isolated the bacillus which caused tuberculosis, for which he later received the Nobel Prize.

Modern bacteriology is based on his work.
