Weatherday: The Father of Europe

Pic: Brian Byrne/Kilcullen Diary.
A beautiful morning up at the Dun Ailinne monument starts what will be a very nice day. It's a few days after the actual Equinox, but the springtime magic of the sun and Noel Scullion's creation finally broke through this morning.

Mostly sunny all the way through until evening. Light southwesterly winds and temperatures hitting 14deg.

On this day in 1957 the Treaties of Rome were signed by Belgium, France, the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, establishing the European Economic Community. The original idea was conceived by Jean Monnet, subsequently known as 'the Father of Europe'.
