Weatherday: Britain banned Ireland travel

Dry at first, with some bright or sunny spells. Cloudier in the afternoon, with some showers moving in for the evening.

Highest temperatures up to 10deg. Light to moderate winds.

On this day in 1944, Britain banned all travel to and from Ireland in an effort to prevent news of Allied preparations for the invasion of France reaching the Germans.
