Offers of help

The Diary has been contacted by a number of people offering their phone numbers and help in delivering food, medicines, to people who may not be able to do so for themselves.

As there is a plethora of such offers already doing the Facebook rounds, we believe there needs to be a more localised response.

So instead of publishing such offers, the Diary suggests that the best people to know who needs such help are neighbours who know those who live near them.

We ask street neighbours, estate neighbours, country neighbours to have a think about who in their own areas might need assistance for shopping, medicines collection, whatever. Then contact them proactively to see if they do require help.

Doing it this way can also reduce confusion, unnecessary distance travelling, and random inconvenience.

Be neighbourly. Be local neighbourly.
