First Biodiversity Workshop last night

Pictured at last evening's Biodiversity Workshop in the Town Hall are Ray Kelly and Noel Clare of the Kilcullen Pollinator Group, with ecologist Fiona MacGovern, and Brian Gaynor of Green Pine Consultants, writes Brian Byrne.

Those present were given practical tips on how to create and manage different types of wildlife habitat; examples of project ideas to engage the community; identifying funding sources; and exploring economic, social and environmental benefits that nature provides, which may be applicable in individual locations.

The second training session will start at 9.30am on Saturday 21 March, and will involve walking around the various locations involved as well as a discussion on individual area Biodiversity Action Plans.

Kilcullen is one of ten communities in the Kildare Biodiversity Towns scheme, through which advice and support to develop and implement Biodiversity Action Plans will be provided.
