Suas group produce Old Kilcullen tower art

The Suas Knitting Group have unveiled their latest creation, a knitted version of the Old Kilcullen Round Tower, writes Brian Byrne.

The piece consists of more than a hundred knitted ‘stone blocks’ in various stone shades, and is mounted on board.

It is understood that the tower will be given a permanent place on a wall in the Parish Centre, where the group meets every Tuesday morning.

In addition to producing a range of knitted products for practical and artistic use over the years, including some displayed in the Parish Centre, the Suas group brought the very colourful ‘yarn-bombing’ to the bridge area last summer, as part of the Kilcullen 700 celebrations.

Some of the group members are pictured with the tower piece today.
