Something for the weekend, for everyone
A pretty busy weekend is lined up in Kilcullen, kicking off this evening with the Pa Keogh Benefit night in The Spout, writes Brian Byrne. Musicians committed to the event include The Druids, Edel Mac Aodh, the Jerry McEvoy Trio with Shane and Hector, the Mississippi Mud Rats, Tony Kirwan (organiser) and Colm Cahill.
The evening will also feature a country swing session with the Kelly brothers, John and Pat, and the MC will be Liam Kett of KFM Radio. Tune off at 8.30pm and admission on the door €5.
An evening to select representatives for Kildare Macra na Feirme at Macra Personality Festivals will be held this evening, in The Hideout from 9pm. During the evening, the Kildare representatives for the organisations national Queen of the Land, Miss Macra, Blue Jean Country Queen, and Mr Personality will be chosen.
Tomorrow morning, Kilcullen Venture Scouts will be holding a Bingo session in Kilcullen Parish Centre, calling starts at 11am and it will go through to 2pm in the afternoon. Light refreshments available and no charge, all welcome.
The Kilcullen Pollinator & Biodiversity Group is hosting a Bird Box Workshop and Pollinator Meeting on Saturday afternoon in the Heritage Centre, beginning at 3pm. The bird boxes which have been made by the members of Naas Men's Shed will be distributed at the event to all the local estates signed up for the Kilcullen Pollinator Plan 2020, and there will be a talk on bird boxes by Paddy Sheridan of Wild Kildare. This will be followed by a discussion about moths as pollinators, presented by Philip Strickland. All welcome.
