Clearing the way for Community Garden
Clearance work has begun on the Kilcullen Community Garden being developed in the grounds of the Community Library by Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.
The garden will feature fruit trees, a wildflower meadow, trees and vegetable planters, and there will be a secluded reflection area with benches beside plantings of lavender, ferns, and roses.
A herb garden, and hawthorn hedging around the library site is included in the plan, as are work benches beside the raised vegetable beds.
KCA workers got the all-clear to start work a couple of weeks ago, following the signing of an agreement with the Kildare Library Service.
A programme of spring and summer work has now been started on the project, which is expected to take four years to complete.
