Deadline this month for heritage conservation grants
Applications are now open for funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2020 and the Historic Structures Fund 2020, writes Brian Byrne.
The schemes are administered by Kildare County Council, and the closing date is 31 January 2020.
The Heritage Investment Scheme 2020 supports small scale, labor intensive conservation projects. The minimum level of funding awarded will be €2,500 up to a maximum of €15,000 per application.
The Historic Structures Fund 2020 scheme offers funding in two streams. Stream 1 offers grants from €15,000-€50,000 aimed at essential repairs and smaller capital works for the refurbishment and conservation of heritage structures. Stream 2 offers a smaller number of grants from €50,000 to €200,000 for larger enhancement, refurbishment or reuse projects involving heritage structures, where a clear community or public benefit is demonstrated.
Completed application forms with photos of the existing structure, quotations for the specific works and method statement should be forwarded by hand or post to Conservation Section, Planning Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co Kildare; or by email to conservation@kildarecoco.ie on or before 5pm on 31 January 2020.
Any queries can be addressed to conservation@kildarecoco.ie.
