The Mayor of Boston, Marty Walsh, will be visiting Kildare later this year as part of the initiative of connecting with the US city promoted by County Kildare Chamber, writes Brian Byrne.

He has been Mayor of Boston since 2014, and is now in his second term after garnering 65pc of the vote in the 2017 election. He is the son of emigrants from County Galway.

During the inaugural visit of Kildare businesses to Boston last October, when a number of them achieved contracts during the trade mission, the delegates also met with the Mayor of Quincy MA, and as a result there is a delegation from the Quincy Chamber visiting Kildare in March, including representatives from 20 businesses.

The Kildare Chamber is also working on the details of the next trade mission to Boston in the autumn. It's part of a five-year commitment of commercial exchange between Kildare and Boston.

Kilcullen company Carve On was on last October's visit.
