Ballyshannon to hold Kilsaran appeal collection clinic at weekend
Ballyshannon Action Group is holding a submissions and observations clinic and drop off point in Ballyshannon Community Hall next Saturday 25 January, between 2-5pm, writes Brian Byrne.
The group is urging people who need help with their submission on the Kilsaran planning appeal to contact a committee member, or drop in on the day with the €50 fee for An Bord Pleanála. Printing facilities will be available.
Meanwhile, a call was made last week to ‘harness the community spirit’ of Ballyshannon and raise funds for the campaign against the appeal.
It was made by Deputy Martin Heydon, who chaired the public meeting held last Thursday. “The time is right to do this now,” he said after reminding the attendance that ‘we can’t be complacent’ after the ‘very strong’ refusal by Kildare County Council of the original planning application.
“The Bord Pleanala appeal is a very different phase. We need to remain just as united and resolute as we were for that.”
Jim Crawford, appointed as the head of fundraising for the group, appealed for ‘everybody to put their bit in’. “Put a tick on the sheet at the back of the room and we’ll meet and have a chat. There are enough creative people here to help us meet this challenge.”
Joanna Costello, a member of the group’s communications committee, warned those present that ‘we mustn’t get too confident’. “Kilsaran have a lot of money,” she reminded them.
