Shortlisted authors will read at Woodbine Open Mic tonight

An 'Open Mic' evening tonight in Woodbine Books will celebrate the shortlisting of Kildare authors Orla McAlinden and Amy Gaffney for Short Story of the Year category in the An Post Irish Book Awards, writes Brian Byrne.

It starts at 7pm and is open to everyone who wants to take part.

"Poets, short story writers, musicians — if you would like to perform your work, please let us know," says Woodbine's proprietor Dawn Behan. "You will also get the opportunity to hear Amy and Orla read their nominated short stories before you vote."

Admission is free but places are limited so please contact the bookshop to reserve a place.
