'Maintain vigilance' against burglars

Business owners and householders have been reminded to maintain security vigilance during the coming months against burglars and thieves, writes Brian Byrne.

"Around this time of the year we are all busy and our usual safety measures might come under pressure," says Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer following the recent launch of the Business Watch initiative by An Garda. "We need to stay safe and look out for each other."

There have been a number of burglaries recently in the Brannockstown, Gilltown and Two Mile House areas, one of the most recent being at the Brown Bear in Two Mile House.

"The local gardai both in Naas and Kilcullen continue to carry out patrols and we would like to thank them for all the work they are doing and we would ask locals to be vigilant and report any unusual sightings to their local station."

More than 160 businesses in Newbridge have signed up to the Business Watch initiative launched locally in the Whitewater Shopping Centre. It is similar to Neighbourhood Watch but with businesses relaying information about suspicious activity in or near their premises.
