'Lack of youth services' in Kilcullen?
A suggestion that Kilcullen has a 'huge lack' of youth services was made at the most recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.
The matter came up in a discussion on the Valley Fairy Trail, when Antoinette Buckley noted that eight new fairy 'houses' had been installed in the last while. "But since we did the latest work, another fairy house was burned, and one of the new fairy signs, which had been concreted in, was pulled out."
Telling the meeting that the replacement cost was about €70 per item, she said it was 'hugely frustrating'.
Orla O'Neill said there is no youth worker in Kilcullen, and then commented on the lack of youth services, and said 'if there is an ongoing problem, it needs to be addressed'.
KCA chair Ann Cashman said that those responsible 'were not necessarily from our town'.
