€66,000 funding boost for Kilcullen Tennis Club
Kilcullen Tennis Club has been awarded €66,077 in the Sports Capital Grant funding announced today, writes Brian Byrne.
The award was confirmed by Deputy Martin Heydon, who said it is a 'great boost' for the club in its plans to redevelop facilities.
Adult membership has grown significantly in the past two years and the club also runs coaching for children on Saturday afternoons. It is currently operating with two courts and plans to build another two all weather courts and seek floodlights and fencing for all four courts to ensure it has four operational courts all year round. Future plans also include the refurbishment of the clubhouse.
"This significant funding is a timely boost for their efforts and a strong and growing tennis club is another great sports amenity for Kilcullen," said Deputy Heydon, pictured here during a visit to the club with Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, Gerard Miller and Club Chairman Greg Norris.
The funding was part of €1.76m in Sports Capital Grants awarded to 50 sports clubs in Kildare today.
