Tree work enhances Valley safety
The recent topping of a remaining overhanging tree in The Valley has improved the vista of the river from the bridge, as well as making the tree safe, writes Brian Byrne.
The work was done by a professional tree expert on commission from Kilcullen Community Action which carries out maintenance and planting in the park on behalf of the community.
Funding for the work came from the Collins family, in memory of the late Jim Collins who was the driving force behind the development of the Valley from more than 50 years ago. Before he passed away, Jim had organised the removal of several other trees which were considered a danger.
Meantime, here's a grab shot of one of the river's ducks traversing the water today.
(Now, if only something could be done about hiding those electric wires?)
