The bear truth about littering

Here’s one for Kilcullen Tidy Towns/KCA, straight from Basel in Switzerland, writes Brian Byrne.

These are part of a private organisation that goes around towns and cities in Switzerland on campaigns to encourage tidiness.

They are supported by the recycling industry, and the Swiss cigarette industry, and their see-through mobile recycle/litter trolley gets the message across.

Particularly with the bear in Basel, where bears have been the symbol of the city since 1513, and today they have a 6,000 sq m park to themselves. Basel also has the largest collection of antique teddy bears in the world.

The ‘Tidy Bear’ is getting the habit learned young, every child the group comes across wants a selfie with him ...
