KCA to 'facelift' Curragh Road, and Athy Road approach

Curragh Road 'needs facelift'.
A series of walkarounds by members of Kilcullen Community Action will take place in coming weeks, to develop a new schedule of project works, writes Brian Byrne.

At last night’s KCA meeting, it was agreed that the walkarounds would concentrate on the areas from the crossroads to the motorway bridge, and the Curragh Road.

“The town streetscape and Hillcrest are looking well now, but the Curragh Road needs a facelift,” Ray Kelly told the group. “We should keep those others going, but concentrate on the new areas.”

After some discussion, it was agreed that groups of three will walk the same areas on separate occasions and then compare notes afterwards.

KCA chair Ann Cashman noted that the last such walkabout had resulted in a lot of things happening. “The Fairy Trail, and the canoe at the fish mural at Hillcrest, for instance. It will be good to to have fresh eyes look around.”

Antoinette Buckley agreed, saying the groups could particularly look at spaces in the chosen areas which could become features.
